Scam Warning
Telephone calls offering to help solve problems with browsing the Internet

Be careful! We know that most people are dubious of phone calls from people they dont know, however we have received reports from a number of our customers today telling us that they have had telephone calls from organisations claiming to be able to help with, or solve problems they are experiencing with browsing the Internet (some making out that they work for Windows, Microsoft etc).

It appears that at least some of these organisations are bogus, and if you let them talk you through a procedure, it is possible that it will install malware on your computer (including key-logging software that may be able to relay details of your Bank accounts if you use Internet banking).

If in doubt always note down the details, don't visit any websites they try and guide you to, and then contact your local IT support organisation and get their opinion about what was said!

What are the Island Games?

The ‘Inter-Island’ Games were created with the aim of bringing together small islands from all over the world in a friendly competition as part of the Isle of Man’s Year of Sport in 1985. Athletes came from places as far as Scandinavia and Iceland, the Mediterranean and St. Helena. In total 15 islands took part.

The idea was to provide an opening for hundreds of sportsmen and women from island communities to compete against other islanders with similar performance standards, as well as the opportunities of social interaction with visiting teams, and to establish new lifelong friendships with fellow islanders.

The number of Islands participating has grown over the years, and now 25 Islands are members of the International Island Games Association. The Island Games are now organised every two years each time taking place on a different island from the members of the association.

Please Note: Whilst NOT the official Island Games Association website (which can be found here), this site has been designed as a resource to help visitors to the Isle of Wight during the Island Games to locate businesses and items of interest during their stay.
